Hewlett Packard Co. announced that it is in advanced talks to resolve investigations by the U.S. Justice Department and Securities and Exchange Commission over potential acts of bribery in foreign countries. The agencies are looking into potential violations of theForeign Corrupt Practices Act in Poland, Russia, Mexico, and other countries. The company first made headlines over the investigation back in June. Hewlett Packard is under scrutiny over the actions of it's employees abroad in connection with getting government contracts for their technology service business. Last year Oracle Corp. agreed to pay $2 million to settle SEC claims it violated The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
