Oracle has acquired Corente, a company that replaces expensive hardware with software, it is known as software defined networking. Companies like Oracle's competitor Cisco sell expensive hardware, and even though companies still need hardware they don't need as much or hardware that's so expensive. Companies use Corente's services to connect remote offices together and connect offices to the internet and other cloud computing applications, this is called wide area networks. Oracle is now setting up its foundation in this new market.
