Microsoft has struck a licensing deal worth $15 million dollars with Foursquare that will allow Microsoft use Foursquare's data in its products. Foursquare's dataset is probably the most valuable asset the company owns, and it already powers the locations services for other apps such as Uber Instagram and Pinterest. Foursquare CEO Dennis Crowley said in a statement, "This is a big deal for us" and also said, " It started off as partnership talks, but those conversations ended up leading to strategic investment conversations." CEO Crowley went on to say this deal is a "multi-year contract to license Foursquare data in services such as its mobile operating system and Bing search engine."
