Microsoft Corp. announced it was cutting 18,000 jobs, or about 15% of its workforce, over the next 12 months. A majority of the jobs being cut are from the new acquired Nokia phone business Microsoft bought less than a year ago. Microsoft's new CEO Satya Nadella would rather see the company become a more cloud computing and mobile friendly software company, instead of focusing on hardware which was the last CEO; Steve Ballmer's vision. This is the biggest cut in jobs ever in the company's 39 year history. One person with close ties to the cuts said most of the cuts will be the Xbox Entertainment Studios unit, who will continue to work on a filmed version of the popular "Halo" video games.
