Becton Dickinson & Co, a U.S. medical equipment supplier, gained European Union approval for its $12.2 billion offer for CareFusion Corp after regulators said the market would continue to be competitive following the acquisition. The deal was first announced on October last year, was one of the high profile deals in the healthcare sector in recent months. CareFusion makes infusion pumps along with other medical devices. The European Commission said, “Several strong players will continue to exert competitive pressure on the merged entity in these markets.”
