Nintendo Co.'s chances of reaching its forecast for the end year profits and sales are slowly diminishing after both Sony Corp. and Microsoft Corp. both sold more game consoles in 24 hours than Nintendo has hold Wii U's in nine entire months. Nintendo's family focus games are looking appeal as titles were delayed, gamers moved to using smartphones and tablets and hardcore players decided to go with the faster Sony and Microsoft options. Nintendo's President Satoru Iwata vowed earlier this year the company would meet a forecast of 100 billion yen ($974 million) and 9 million units sold. Analyst are expected to see profit come in at 57 billion yen and 6.2 million units sold.
