Security consultant Bas Bosschert said, the reported privacy flaws found in the Facebook's WhatsApp, that lead to private chats being seen and stolen could have possibly be blamed on malicious Android apps. Bosschert said the flaw came when Android users turned on WhatsApp's backup feature that saves messages to a memory card. WhatsApp said, "Under normal circumstances the data on a microSD card is not exposed. However, it a device owner downloads malware or a virus, their phone will be at risk. As always, we recommedn WhatsApps users apply all software updates to ensure they have the latest security fixes and we strongly encourage users to only download trusted software from reputable companies."
