General Motos named Mary Barra as their first ever female CEO, succeeding the current chief Dan Akerson. Barra is currently GM's global head of product development, she joined the company when she was 18. Also yesterday the Treasury announced it sold its stake in the auto maker for a $10.5 billion loss. Akerson may have foreseen this back in September he said, "Someday, there will be a Detroit Three that's run by a car gal. I actually believe that." Barra got her bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Kettering University, she also has a MBA from Stanford University.
