Verizon Communications Francis Shammo, said in a statement that Verizon was not interest in acquiring assets being sold by America Movil, Latin America's biggest telecommunications company. Rival to Verizon, AT&T, said it would not rule out a deal in Mexico back in September. AT&T is one of the few potential suitors America Movil has contacted to sell of a chunk of assets. The planned sale was first announced in July, due to sector overhaul focused on curbing Carlos Slim's strong hold on Mexican telecoms. America Movil has close to 70% of the countries mobile subscribers and owns 60% of the landlines.
