Hewlett Packard Co. is splitting into two public companies. The move separates its computer and printer business from its corporate hardware and services operations, but it will also eliminate 5,000 jobs. Shareholders for the company will retain a stake in both business through a tax free transaction next year. Meg Whitman, the Chief Executive said, "There's still lots of opportunities in other adjacencies, where we don't chase the market leaders."
