BAIC Motor, a Chinese carmaker, is in talks with Daimler AG over taking a stake in the German luxury carmaker. Daimler currently owns a 10% stake in BAIC. Daimler and BAIC has a history of joint ventures in China to oversee production and sales of Mercedes Benz passenger cars in the world’s largest car market. If the deal is complete BAIC will become one of Daimler’s top shareholders. Daimler said, “BAIC is our most important partner in China.” And mentioned “Generally speaking we want to remain attractive for long term investors. Investors from China are also welcome.”
