Hewlett Packard Co. is acquiring Eucalyptus, a cloud software startup. Eucalyptus provides open source software for building private and hybrid clouds, or internet based computing services. It has not been reported how much HP is paying to buy Eucalyptus, but it is suspected that price was under $100 million. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter, after Eucalyptus Cheif Executive Marten Mickos, joins HP as senior vice president and head of its cloud business.
